1.Calangute

Calangute  is a census town with a permanent population of approximately 16,000 (2001) in North Goa, in the state of Goa, India. It is famous for its beach, the largest in north Goa, visited by thousands of domestic and international tourists alike. The peak tourist season is during Christmas and New Year, and during the summer in May. During the monsoon season, from June through September, the sea can be rough and swimming is prohibited.

2.Marina Beach

Marina Beach is a beach in the city of Chennai (Madras), India, along the Bay of Bengal, part of the Indian Ocean. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Besant Nagar in the south, a distance of 14  km, making it the longest urban beach in the country. The Marina is primarily sandy, unlike the short, rocky formations that make up the Juhu Beach in Mumbai. The width of the beach at the widest stretch is 437 meters.It is the second longest beach stretch in the world.

3.Varkala

Varkala  is a coastal town and municipality in Thiruvananthapuram district situated in the Indian state of Kerala. It is located 50 kilometres (approx. 32 miles) north-west of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and 37 km south-west of Kollam.

Varkala is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. These tertiary sedimentary formation cliffs are a unique geological feature on the otherwise flat Kerala coast, and is known among geologists asVarkala Formation and a geological monument as declared by the Geological Survey of India. There are numerous water spouts and spas on the sides of these cliffs.

Varkala is also famous for the 2,000-year old Janardana Swami Temple which is an important Vaishnavaite shrine in India and is often referred to as Dakshin Kashi (Benares of the South). The temple is located close to the Papanasam beach, which is considered to have holy waters which wash away sins, and is also an important Ayurveda treatment centre. The temple has an ancient bell removed from a shipwreck, donated by the captain of the Dutch vessel which sank near Varkala without causing any casualties.

4.Kovalam

Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea in Kerala, a state in south India. It is located around 13 km from downtown Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum).Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees.Kovalam was brought to the public eye by the Maharaja of Travancore.Kovalam has three crescent shaped beaches separated by rocky outcroppings. Shallow waters stretching for hundreds of metres are ideal for swimming. The beaches have steep palm covered headlands and are lined with shops that offer all kinds of goods and services.

5.Vagator Beach

Again located in Goa although much more to the north.It is about half an hour's drive from Panajim. It is place where you can see the salty sea and two fresh water lakes with a couple of kms of each other. The trek is long if you have kids along.

What you get – Apart from its beautiful views, Vagator beach in Goa is popular for its water rides. A ride on the speed boat can truly bring out the child in you.

6.Juhu

Juhu is a suburban neighbourhood of western Mumbai. It is famous for its sprawling beach, the Juhu Beach. It is surrounded by Arabian Sea in the west, Santacruz and Vile Parle in the east. Juhu is one of the more affluent areas of Mumbai. Many Bollywood stars own bungalows in Juhu, famously including Amitabh Bachchan, Amrish Puri, Ajay Devgan, the Deols and numerous other stars. Industrialist Adi Godrej, Musician Khayyam, Lalit Modi, the Khanna's, Media Expert Niranjan Parihar, Financial Advisor Bharat Solanki, and Chairman of Montex group Raman Jain also have their bungalows in Juhu.The nearest railway stations are Santacruz, Andheri and Vile Parle.

7.Cherai Beach

Cherai Beach is located in Vypin island, Kochi, India. Cherai Beach is just 25 km from Kochi, the business capital of Kerala and 30 km from Cochin International Airport. The nearest towns are North Paravur (6 km) and Kodungallur (10 km) and the nearest railway station is Aluva (20 km).

The 15 km of long golden beach is clean, shallow, and attracts swimming and sunbathing. It is one of the few places where one can experience the lagoon (poyil) and ocean separated only by a few hundred meters. One of the main events in Cherai Beach is the tourism fest during December.

Best season to visit is all throughout the year barring the rainy season (June - October). Tourists can find beach resorts and cottages close to the beach.

8. Kashid Beach

Located in Maharashtra, this beach is located near Janjira at Murud. It is about fours hour drive from Mumbai, but the peace and quiet are worth it. Kashid is quite close to Alibagh and can be taken in as a day trip if you are holidaying there.

9.Tarkarli

Tarkarli  is a village in Malvan Taluka, district Sindhudurg. It is Tourist Destination in Coastal Maharashtra, an attractive beach. From there, one can see the famous naval fort Sindhudurg built by Shivaji Maharaj. This village is famous for its Ramnavmi Utsav. Here in Mapurush Temple the celebration of Ramnavmi is arranged every year. To mark this occasion there are various dramas (Marathi Natak) are arranged.

This place has gained prominence because of its long and narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters. On a fairly clear day, one can see the bed unto a depth of 20 ft. It presents a panoramic view with tall 'Shuru' trees in the background. The wide river, the beautiful sailboats and the tiny wonderful islands hamlets situated on the riverbank, add to the picturesque beauty of Tarkarli. Sighting dolphins is not a rare event here. This place fishes throughout the year, the sea during summer and winter and back-waters during the monsoon since the sea water enters this area and also due to safety reasons.

10.Puri Beach

Puri Beach is a beach in the city of Puri in the state of Orissa, India. It is on the shore of the Bay of Bengal. It is known for being a tourist attraction and a Hindu sacred place.The beach is the site of the annual Puri Beach Festival, which is co-sponsored by the Indian Ministry of Tourism, the city of Orissa, the Development Commissioner of Handicrafts, and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Kolkata.The beach hosts sand art displays, including work by international award winning local sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik.
